「ター(เธอ)」というベトナム戦争の恋の歌

　あるとき突然、わけもなく、ある歌が自分の魂を奪う。最初、そう思っていなくても、すでにすっかり奪われてしまうことがある。そうした歌が、どのくらいあるのかわからないけど、ふと出くわしてしまう。
　ヤンニーン・パラウィー・ワイゲルさんという、ドイツ・タイのダブルの14歳の少女のタイ語の歌が、そうだった。最初、へえというくらいにしか思っていなかったのに。
　そして、歌詞が知りたい。
　私はタイ語はさっぱりわからなので、英語からの重訳でちょっと訳してみた（参照）。

　「ター(เธอ)」というのは「彼女」という意味で、私みたいに老いた男の若い日の恋人を思い出しているようだが、ヤンニーンさんの歌のイメージで、ちょっとユニセックスで訳してみた。
　ところで彼女の歌はカバー。本歌はやはり男の歌で、元の映画で歌われている。

　ヴェトナム戦争での恋の映画のようだが、それがなぜタイ語で？というあたりがよくわからないのと、歌の内容と映画と対応しているのかもよくわからない。映画と歌とは直接関係はないのかもしれない。
　吹き替えとかで見たい映画だけど、どういう扱いになっているかはわからない。

追記(2014.7.5)
　映画について英語で書かれたブログ記事「The Vietnam War Through Thai Eyes」（参照）を見ると、ベトナム戦争に参加したタイ人男性とヴェトナム女性の転生の物語らしい。

There is a monologue in the beginning in which the ex-soldier explains that he is looking for the girl, and he says that he is tormented by the fact that he doesn’t know who she is. He then asks, “Have you been reborn? Or did you die?”

最初の独り言で退役兵が、ある少女を探しているが、彼女が誰かわからなくてつらいとある。そして彼は問いかける、「きみは転生した？　つまり死んだ？」

As the song plays we come to learn that the girl he fell in love with died in 1965, however, she was reborn and he finds her in 2014. However, she doesn’t recognize him, until he dies, and then she comes to realize that she was in love with him in her past life.

歌詞にあるように、映画の観客は、彼が恋に落ちた少女が1965年に死んで転生、2014年に彼が彼女を見つける。しかし、彼女のほうは彼がわからないでいるが、彼が死んだとき、彼女は前世で彼と恋いに落ちていたことを理解する。

We also learn that he actually died in 1965 too, so the “ex-soldier” who went to Vietnam in 2014 was actually the reincarnation of the soldier who died in 1965.

映画の観客はまた知ることになるのは、彼もまた1965年に死んでいて、ベトナム戦争に行った退役兵もまた1965年に死んだ転生であったことだ。

　ついでだけど、ヤンニーンさんが軍服を着ている演出はなかなか。
